Beijing Forestry University's 26th Postgraduate Volunteer Teaching Corps has garnered national attention with a front-page feature in Guangming Daily, titled "Devoting Ourselves Wholeheartedly, Just Like the Pioneers in the Reports". Both China News Service and Inner Mongolia media outlets also highlighted the team's contributions to educational support and rural revitalization.
In August 2024, 24 members of the Corps began teaching at 6 schools in Hebei and Inner Mongolia, delivering 329 weekly lessons across subjects including mathematics, science, and psychology to over 3,000 students from primary to high school. The volunteers adopted tailored approaches for struggling learners through a "Hand-in-Hand, Heart-to-Heart" mentoring program, conducting home visits to design personalized growth plans. Beyond classrooms, they organized club activities, mental health workshops, and field trips to foster holistic development.
The Corps teamed up with BFU's Youth Volunteers Association for the decade-long "Western Dream Pen Pal" project, enabling 14,248 letters to be exchanged between 1,781 university volunteers and students in underserved areas. Additionally, members jointly created five nature education courses, like "The Wonderful World of Plants," for the Ministry of Education's digital outreach program. Six volunteers were named cultural tourism ambassadors for Hinggan League, promoting rural industries through border-region cultural campaigns.
Since 2000, BFU has dispatched 356 volunteers to five regions across three provinces, with 114 forming the "Forest Wings" Education Support Group in Horqin Right Wing Front Banner. Over 25 years, the Corps has educated 36,000 students through 100,000+ class hours, earning local honors like "Outstanding Communist Party Member" and "Youth May Fourth Medal". In futue, Postgraduate Volunteer Teaching Corps will go to the western China to dedicate one short year to a lifelong mission: writing new chapters of rural revitalization in China.
