14 BFU scholars named to Elsevier's list of 2024 Highly Cited Chinese Researchers

On March 25, 14 scholars from BFU featured in Elsevier's 2024 "Highly Cited Chinese Researchers" list, an increase of one from 2023, which elevates the university's national ranking to 86th, a two-position rise year-on-year.

Five-Year Trend of Honored Scholars of BFU(2020-2024)

The recognized scholars span 7 primary disciplines across natural sciences, engineering, and agricultural sciences. Forestry Engineering leads with 4 honorees, followed by Biology (3), Forestry and Ecology (2 each), and single selections in Computer Science, Environmental Science, and Grassland Science.

The list identifies researchers with exceptional academic influence based on Scopus data, and selection criteria require scholars to serve as first or corresponding authors on multiple papers meeting discipline-specific citation thresholds, including at least one top 1% globally cited paper or a field-weighted citation impact (FWCI) ≥1. This year's list includes 6,388 scholars from 547 institutions nationwide.

Highly cited scholars play a pivotal role in advancing disciplinary progress and global knowledge dissemination. BFU's consistent growth in honorees over the past five years reflects its strengthening research capabilities in forestry ecology and biodiversity.
