On the evening of December 31st, the BFU New Year Gala was staged at Tin Ka Ping Stadium. Over one thousand BFU faculties and students jointly celebrated the coming of the new year. Yin Weilun, the academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and the former president of BFU, Lv Huanqing, the former executive deputy secretary of the party committee and the former vice president of BFU, and Zhang Qingquan, the former deputy secretary of the party committee of BFU all attended the event. The deputy secretary of the party committee and the president of BFU An Lizhe, the deputy secretary of the party committee and the secretary of the discipline inspection commission of BFU Wang Tao, the vice presidents of BFU Luo Youqing, Wang Yujie, Li Xiong, the standing member of the party committee of the university and the director of Organization Department of BFU Zou Guohui, the standing member of the university party committee and the director of Publicity Department of BFU Sun Xinli, and heads of departments and schools also participated in the activity. On the occasion of ringing out the old and ringing in the new, the BFU family gathered to celebrate the gains and honours over the past year and look ahead into the future with songs and dances.
BFU News–On 29 and 30 of October, the “Walking Outdoors 3.0 (walking outdoors away from the Internet, walking outdoors from your dorms, walking outdoors into the playground) Thousand-People Action”, the program of “Green Dynamic Life”, was held in Tin Ka Ping Stadium initiated by Youth League and Students’ Union of our university. More than 1400 students participated in this program through signing up online and offline to experience green, young and vigorous life.
The “December 9th Movement” was a protest led by students in Beiping (present-day Beijing) to resist the Japanese aggression and long for saving the nation on December 9, 1935. On the occasion of its 84th anniversary, the 5th Student Sports Festival and the Long-distance Race were held on December 8 to inspire BFU students to carry forward the spirit of patriotism, strengthen physical fitness, and show their determination of shouldering responsibility and forging forward. Wang Tao, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of BFU, attended the ceremony and shot the starting pistol for the long-distance race with nearly 2,000 faculties and students participated in.
BFU News: The night of May 19thwitnessed the spectacular of the final of 2018 May Flower Chorus Competition with the theme of “Singing the Chinese Dream and Striving for a New Era”. After preliminary selection and semi-final selection, a total of 8 teams advanced to this final. After a fierce competition, School of Economics and Management gained the laurel with the song “River”; School of Landscape Architecture, School of Engineering and School of Science won the second prize; the third prize went to School of Forestry, School of Biology, School of Humanities and School of Information, and School of Engineering won the Best Style Award as well. The Best Conductor Award was given to the choir conductor of School of Economics and Management.
BFU news— BFU’s copyrighted play, “Liang Xi: Pioneer of China’s Modern Forestry Industry”, debuted on October 16 to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 67th anniversary of the founding of Beijing Forestry University. The play pays tribute to the older generation of scientists and educators represented by Liang Xi, recalling the original aspiration of those in China’s modern forestry and calling on the younger generation to shoulder the responsibility of the new age.
