BFU News: The night of May 19thwitnessed the spectacular of the final of 2018 May Flower Chorus Competition with the theme of “Singing the Chinese Dream and Striving for a New Era”. After preliminary selection and semi-final selection, a total of 8 teams advanced to this final. After a fierce competition, School of Economics and Management gained the laurel with the song “River”; School of Landscape Architecture, School of Engineering and School of Science won the second prize; the third prize went to School of Forestry, School of Biology, School of Humanities and School of Information, and School of Engineering won the Best Style Award as well. The Best Conductor Award was given to the choir conductor of School of Economics and Management.
The competition kicked off in the melody of “Glorious, Chinese Communist Youth League” sung by the School of Biology. The eight chorus teams in the final, with their beautiful singing voice, sincere emotion and heroic momentum, let a youthful hymn reverberate in the night sky of the campus. The song “Glorious, the Chinese Communist Youth League” sang of the sincere heart of the young students, who always remain true to their original aspiration and firmly follow the steps of the Chinese Communist Party. Many popular classic songs, such as self-selected tracks “I Love You China”, “Pear Blossoms Are Open Again”, and “River”, had been ingeniously arranged and carefully interpreted by various teams. The singers expressed their love for the motherland through the songs, which were sincere, magnificent, expressive, and stunningly contagious. And their determination to contribute to the motherland struck a chord in the hearts of the teachers and students present. On the stage, the students sang of youth, commemorated the history, and promoted the valuable spirit with touching songs. The wonderful performances moved every audience and received rounds of applause.
President Assistant Li Yonghe and more than a thousand people, teachers or students, gathered in Tim Ka Ping Gymnasium to listen to the beautiful hymns of youth. The following renowned professionals were invited as judges for the competition: Wang Zhengjie, President of Beijing Guoyinyiyuan Education Center and Professor of Vocal Music; Li Jing, Associate Professor of School of Art of Peking University; Feng Shulan, Associate Professor of Beijing Institute of Modern Music; Zhou Yuan, Soprano Singer and Associate Professor of Renmin University of China; Han Pingting, Teacher of Beijing Jiaotong University Art Education Center and State First-Class Actor; Luo Shengguang, Army Political Work Department Cultural Troupe and young baritone singer; Wan Jiaqiu, member of China Chorus Association and Chinese Musicians Association.
