In the roundtable dialogue session of the Higher Education sub-forum, which was moderated by Shang Liang, Content Director of Xinhua Net Education Business Center, discussions were held on the topic of "Focusing on Youth Talent Cultivation and Discussing Future Education Development". An Lizhe, President of Beijing Forestry University, Kong Lingjiang, Vice president of University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, and Gou Xiaohua, vice president of Lanzhou University were invited to the discussio and shared experiences with the theme of "focusing on youth talent training for future education development".

An Lizhe stated that Beijing Forestry University has developed its foundation on forestry and thrived based on ecological civilization. In order to cultivate talented individuals, BFU places emphasis on ecological civilization construction and endeavors to train leading talents who can serve in the construction of ecological civilization according to the requirements of strengthening the nation through education. BFU has implemented the "Action Plan on Comprehensive Reform of Undergraduate Education in the New Era" and the "1358 Graduate Education Quality Project," which signifies that serving ecological civilization construction has been integrated into the training objectives of both undergraduate and postgraduate students. Furthermore, the concept of undergraduate talent cultivation, known as "one core, two transformations, three enhancements, and four integrations," has been articulated. Additionally, the "three-party" responsibility, "five-high" guarantee system, and "eight" quality improvement plans for postgraduate training have been established.
Colleges and universities serve as the primary frontlines for talent cultivation and aggregation, and are also an integral component of the national innovation system. An Lizhe highlighted that Beijing Forestry University (BFU) stands out in scientific and technological innovation, having established a comprehensive scientific and technological innovation platform system that caters to civilization construction. This system encompasses the world's largest national forest and grass seed bank, boasting the largest storage capacity and highest degree of intelligence. Additionally, BFU houses the only two national key laboratories dedicated to the forestry industry in China, along with over 80 other provincial and ministerial science and technology platforms.
Regarding the topic of "organically integrating the development of high-quality teachers in the new era with the nurturing of young talents", An Lizhe stated that Beijing Forestry University has consistently prioritized faculty team building. In recent years, BFU has embarked on a journey to establish an appropriate approach for talent cultivation through the implementation of the leading and coordinated "5·5 Project". This project aims to foster teachers through diverse means at various stages.
In response to the inquiry of "how universities can contribute to strengthening the nation through education", An Lizhe asserted that Beijing Forestry University will assume a pioneering role in ecological civilization construction, spearhead green development, and lead the innovative advancement of agricultural and forestry higher education, while leveraging its unique characteristics.
