Recently, the Scientific Exploration and Outdoor Life Society (Senol) was honored as one of the top organizations, securing the title of "Students' Favorite Club" for 2024 at the Beijing universities' student community exchange event.
Since its inception, this organization has been a driving force in environmental stewardship and youth empowerment. It has successfully safeguarded 100 square kilometers of crucial habitat for the endangered Yunnan snub-nosed monkey, launched the heartwarming "Helping Geese Fulfill Their Parental Wish" initiative at Beijing's Zizhuyuan Park, spearheaded comprehensive waste sorting and recycling programs across campuses, and united environmentally conscious volunteers from universities nationwide to establish the Sonam Dargye Protection Station in Hoh Xil, Qinghai. Over the past three decades, it has shaped and empowered nearly 20,000 university students, many of whom have become key players in advancing China's ecological civilization and environmental protection efforts.
This April, Beijing Forestry University proudly launched the Senol Ecological Civilization Special Fund. As the pioneering public welfare fund in China named after a university environmental club, it is dedicated to bolstering ecological initiatives and nurturing more than 20 student-led environmental groups, including Senol itself. Furthermore, the fund endeavors to motivate faculty and students alike to embrace green living practices and actively contribute to the progression of ecological civilization.
Senol, along with other 90-odd BFU student organizations, hold more than 500 practical activities each year. These initiatives encompass ecological and environmental protection events, engaging the participation of over 10,000 students.
