On November 11th, the online opening ceremony of “the Seminar on 2021 Bangladesh Forestry Resources Sustainable Development” organized by the Ministry of Commerce and undertaken by BFU was held. 20 forestry officials from Bangladesh would spend 20 days on extensive study and discussions online.
Li Xiong, Vice President of BFU, extended warm welcome to all the students and gave a brief introduction to BFU and the seminar. He hoped that the communication and cooperation between China and Bangladesh on sustainable forest management could be strengthened through this seminar so as to lay a solid foundation for deeper exchanges and cooperation between the two countries in the future.
Han Ning, Deputy Director of Program Management Division 1, Training Center of Ministry of Commerce, hoped that all the students could get a deeper understanding of the forestry development in China through this seminar , so they can open up new channels for more extensive cooperation in related areas for all countries. He also hoped that exchanges and communications in broader range could be carried out with the aid of this special communicative platform so as to make contributions to achieve the major strategic objective of “the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”of the UN.
Student representative Dr. MD. Enamul Hoque expressed sincere gratitude to the Ministry of Commerce and BFU. He hoped that all participants could benefit from the seminar, and the successful experiences of China in forestry development could further enrich the cooperation models in sustainable forest management, regional sustainable development and other aspects.
It is reported that since 2005 BFU has successfully hosted foreign aid projects sponsored by Ministry of Commerce of China for more than 10 years. This seminar is the first online foreign aid project by Ministry of Commerce undertaken by BFU, which plays an important role in demonstrating and leading our university to carry out various online foreign training programs in the new era, boost the development of an innovative foreign training system, improve the internationalization of relevant disciplines and majors, and usher in a new era of the external transformation technological achievements. The seminar focuses on the theme of sustainable development and management of forestry resources, and famous experts and scholars from BFU and experts from Nature Guardian Conservation and Development Research Center will be invited to communicate with the participants . At the same time, the seminar integrates online visits to the Jiufeng Experimental Forest Farm, Xishan Experimental Forest Farm and Yongan Experimental Forest Farm in Sanming City, Fujian Province, enabling the participants to understand the development achievements of forestry in China in a comprehensive, profound and institutional way.
