Beijing Forestry University hosted an opening ceremony of 2022 to welcome its new cohort of more than 6,000 freshmen and graduate students on September 25. The students, dressed in customized uniforms for the opening ceremony, formed a pattern of 70 on the playground as a tribute to the upcoming 70th anniversary of the founding of BFU.
At the opening ceremony, An Lizhe, Vice Chairman of University Council and President of BFU delivered a speech and extended a warm welcome to all incoming students on behalf of the University. He looked back on the university’s experience of contributing to ecological civilization construction as well as economic and social development of China during the 70-year history of BFU, and encouraged the new students to hone their noble character and skills, which are worthy of the important task of ecological civilization construction. He is committed to high-level protection of the ecological environment, promoting high-quality development and creating a high-quality life with unwavering determination and perseverance and become the mainstay in a changing world.
Sun Xinli host the openning ceremony. She hoped that all the students could inherite the tradition and spirit of forestey scientists and bear in mind that they should shoulder the responsibilities to carry on the course of ecological civilization construction. She wished that BFUers could grow up with BFU and strive forward with unwavering determination and perseverance, becoming the mainstay in our country.

Professor Fu Yujie from College of Biological Sciences and Biotechnology, who is also the winner of 2006 L'Oreal-UNESCO Women in Science Awards, gave a speech at the opening ceremony as the faculty representative. She called on the students to pursue their academic endeavors while caring for the development of the whole country, and she shared some advice on how the new students could make their time at BFU more fulfilling.
Zhao Linyong from the College of Material Science and Technology delivered his remarks as the master’s student representative. He suggested that all the BFUers grasp opportunities, rise to the challenges, and make their contributions to the disciplines and the fields they are in.
Likewise, Sun Yuanqi from the School of Landscape Architecture gave a speech as the new student representative. She urged her fellow newcomers to work together and to study together to better themselves and create a better tomorrow.
All the new students received a exquisite school badges prepared by BFU. The badge represents the identity of BFUer, and it is also the symbol of the integration of students’ personal growth and the development of the university as well as the bearing of the spirit of perseverance and courage of BFUer. At the opening ceremony, university authorities wear badges for new student representatives.
