Seminar on Forestry Program Development for the Belt and Road Initiative Countries (online)organized bythe Ministry of Commerceand undertaken byBeijing Forestry University(BFU)officially openedrecently. Vice Presidentof BFULi Xiong attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. The Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Economics and Management,thehead of the International School,and 72members from 12 countries including Thailand, Brunei, Uzbekistan, South Africa, Jamaica and Sudanparticipated the ceromony as well.
XiongLi introduced the history and characteristics of BFUas well as the school's experience inundertaking short-term training courses forthe Ministry of Commerce and the main content of thistraining course. He hoped that the trainees would take this opportunity to strengthen exchanges and jointly promotethedevelopment of forestry.
The Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Economics and Management introduced the school's experience ineducatinginternational students. Since 2005, the School of Economics and Management has successively undertaken a number of short-term training programsorganized bythe Ministry of Commerce and theNationalForestryand GrasslandAdministration, and established thethe MOFCOM Scholarship Program for Master in Forest Economics&policy. A total of more than 200 international students of various levels have been trained.

It is reported thatduring the two-weeks-longseminar,18 experts and scholars from the Economic Development Research Center of theNationalForestryand GrasslandAdministrationas well asBFUwere invited to carry outthissystematic training, which will enable the trainees to systematically understand China'smain practices and achievements in forestry policies, forestry reforms, ecological construction and industrial development, etc.. through this, theforestry cooperation and exchanges among developing countries along the “Belt and Road”willbefurther strengthened.
