“Fighting Virus”---Teachers, Students and Alumni of Beijing Forestry University Supporting China with Videos!

2020-10-14

This is a critical moment for the whole country to combat COVID-19, a war without smoke. Everyone makes up a part and bears witness. In order to implement president Xi’s guideline and decisions by CPC and State Council, and to show the BFU spirit of uniting together for epidemic prevention and control, the Party Committee Publicity Department and Youth League have jointly launched a program to collect video works under the theme of “ Unite as One , Fight against Virus----Our hearts are Held Together”.

The program has been attracting wide attentions from all faculty, staff, retired professors, students and alumni of BFU. Here are some representative selections which express sincere love for the country. All utter the same beautiful wishes from different cameras and in different voices: Go, Wuhan! Go, China!

(Work No. 9) “Together” --written and sung by BFU Student Choir. This song is composed to sing the selfless great love of the medical personnel for people, their sacrifice despite difficulties and even danger. When the epidemic broke out, groups of doctors and nurses stepped forward bravely and unhesitatingly to the frontline, leaving us their back in white gowns. In the song, the students sing “I cannot help tears the moment you turn back”, for I know it is your love that is left with me. “The sun shines, we go hand in hand”. It is LOVE that wins us the victory!

“Tomorrow Will be Better” --sung online by 88 BFU graduate students from 16 colleges who are singing from their own homes in different places. “Love melts into notes, and blessings are voiced from distance”, they sing. This was the most freezing winter but we share warmest feelings. Even though the epidemic deprived our time of being together, each one of us has contributed to combat the virus.

Streets were left empty and some people were attacked by virus, but we will overcome the difficulties by uniting together. Led by Communist Party, the brave, formidable and resolute Chinese people are fighting and working on different battlelines. Common people are making selfless sacrifices like angels and each and every Chinese is contributing in his own way. We believe we will win this war against virus without smoke eventually!

By singing this song online, they expressed passions and determination of the youths, as well as their concerns for those who fight bravely and selflessly in Wuhan. Salute to those on the frontline!

(Work No. 5) “BFU Disco” --adapted by Fan Xiang, a counsellor of the School of Sciences. According to Fan, “this is a special holiday due to the grave and complex situation caused by the epidemic. Most of us have to stay at home for such a long time, which is indeed boring. Recalling my own happy vacations as a student, I worried that my young students couldn’t bear the boredom. As a counsellor, I inform students of many notices about epidemic prevention and control. In case they might ignore or miss some important information, I adapted a popular song for the purpose to get students’ attention. On one hand, by attracting their attention, we can fight more closely with enhanced sense of belonging. On the other hand, the lyrics show concerns from the school and teachers to our beloved students. I believe that all faculty, staff and students of BFU are connected, and our school, along with faculty and staff, is a solid backing for its students.”
