The discipline of agrostology at BFU was formally established in 2001. It is the earliest and the only discipline of agrostology set up in forestry colleges and universities throughout the country. In 2003, it was entitled to conferring master’s and doctoral degrees. In 2008, it was selected as a Beijing key discipline. In 2014, its first-level post-doctoral research station was approved to found. After nearly 20 years’ development, a complete undergraduate-master-doctor-postdoctor cultivation system has been formed. Currently, two secondary disciplines, range science and turfgrass, fall under its category. Within its 19 full-time faculty, there are 7 professors, 7 associate professors, and 5 lecturers. Among them, there are 6 doctoral supervisors and 6 masters’ supervisors, all of whom bear doctoral degrees and 82% of them enjoy overseas study experience. 1 expert enjoys special government allowance from the State Council, 1 bears the title of scientific and technological leading expert in National Ten-thousand Talents Plan, 1 bears MOST(the Ministry of Science and Technology) young and middle-aged scientific and technological leading expert, and 2 hold positions of vice chairman or above in academic organizations at home and abroad. As the first person-in-charge of projects, its faculty has successively won 1 2nd-class National Science Progress Award, 2 provincial and ministerial first prizes and 4 provincial and ministerial second prizes. Over 700 papers have been published in core journals, of which more than 100 papers have been indexed by SCI(the Science Citation Index) and EI(the Engineering Index). Over 30 national inventions and utility model patents have been obtained. Nearly 20 academic monographs and teaching materials have been published. Nearly 10 national and professional standards have been presided over and formulated. It has developed into a strong and well-reputed discipline in the field of agrostology at home and abroad with a high scientific research level and influence.
