Several schools at Beijing Forestry University recently held specialized spring ecological activities, combining hands-on nature experiences with academic learning, each designed around their unique disciplinary strengths
Nature Therapy for Student Resilience
The College of Biological Sciences and Biotechnology led over 100 undergraduates to Fenghuangling National Forest Park on March 26 for a "Forest Therapy" program. Through nature meditation, sensory immersion activities, and collaborative leaf-art projects in the oxygen-rich forest environment, students reported significant stress relief and heightened ecological awareness. "This really relax my body and mind," shared a 2024 cohort participant.
Field Studies Strengthen Social Responsibility
The School of Economics and Management guided 34 members of its "Pomegranate Blossom" training camp to Jiufeng Forest Farm. The program combined historical tours of the farm's conservation efforts with team-building hikes, fostering cultural inclusion among minority students while deepening their understanding of ecological stewardship.
Staff Wellness Through Green Engagement
On the same day, the School of Art and Design organized a staff outing to Jiufeng National Forest Park, BFU experimental forest, promoting work-life balance. Faculty split into groups: one hiked to a Magnolia research base showcasing BFU-bred flower varieties, while others explored plum groves linked to renowned academician Chen Junyu's legacy. Many opted for traditional Baduanjin exercises amid spring blossoms to rejuvenate.
From focusing on student mental resilience, practical education to caring about staff wellness, all activities embodied the ethos of "harmony between human and nature", contributing to the university's Double First-Class Initiative. It is reported schools plan seasonal eco-programs to further integrate sustainability into campus life, with mental health support remaining a core priority.
