Beijing Forestry University (BFU) Professor Liu Yong from the College of Forestry has published Forest Seed and Seedling Cultivation, an English-language textbook designed to advance the global reach of China's forestry education. The release marks a key milestone in internationalizing the country's expertise in forestry science.
Adapted from the Chinese national textbook "林木ç§è‹—培育å¦" (approved under China's 13th Five-Year Plan for forestry education), this concise yet comprehensive work systematically details theories and techniques in forest seedling cultivation. Key topics include germplasm resource management, nursery establishment, elite seed production, seedling quality evaluation, and sustainable nursery practices. The publication fills a critical gap in globally accessible English-language resources for forestry professionals.
Supported by Beijing Forestry University and developed through collaboration among 20 experts from 15 leading Chinese institutions—including Northeast Forestry University, Nanjing Forestry University, and the Chinese Academy of Sciences—this textbook establishes standardized methodologies for researchers, educators, and practitioners worldwide. Its publication not only reinforces China’s growing leadership in global forestry research but also amplifies the international impact of its scientific advancements.
