    Introduction to the subject

    Geographic Information Science is a new cross-disciplinary subject based on traditional geography, cartography Science of Surveying and Mapping, combining the latest computer science, information science, remote sensing science and global positioning system. It mainly focuses on solving theoretical and technical issues, including capture, management, analysis, applications, sharing, visualization of spatial data and knowledge discovery. GIS is an important supporting technology in the fields of natural resource management, ecological environment, urban and rural planning, soil and water conservation, marine environment, climate change and others. Its study content is composed of mathematics, computer, remote sensing, satellite navigation and geoscience courses, which aims to train high-level talents with advanced theoretical and technical skills in the field of geographic information science.

    This major mainly trains and cultivates senior specialized talents of geographic information science who have basic theories, knowledge and skills of geographic information science and cartography and can be engaged in scientific research or teaching in scientific research institutions and universities, or engaged in the application of research, technology development, production management and administrative management related to geographic information in the government management departments, enterprise management departments and social services and in the fields of regions, resources, environment, transportation, population, housing, land, infrastructure planning and management, government affairs and business management.
