After six months of deliberation and decision by the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the BFU, “master planning design scheme of Beijing Forestry University Xiong’an Campus submitted by the Architectural Design and Research Institute of Harbin Institute of Technology Co.Ltd & Beijing Institute of Architectural Design was selected as the winning scheme, based on the votes of teachers and students and opinions of experts inside and outside the university.
It is reported that a total of 23 domestic and foreign design teams signed up to participate in the general planning scheme solicitation. After pre-qualification examination, 7 design teams led by 3 academicians, 1 academician of American Institute of Architects and 3 national masters of engineering survey and design were selected for the first round of General planning scheme solicitation. After expert review, China Architectural Design and Research Group, GENSLER& China Academy of Building Research consortium, Architectural Design and Research Institute of Harbin Institute of Technology Co.Ltd & Beijing Institute of Architectural Design consortium submitted 3 schemes successfully shortlisted the second round of solicitation.
In order to select the most suitable scheme, BFU held a Xiong’an Campus master planning exhibition and voting for teachers and students. The exhibition was carried out in various forms such as on-site exhibition, video exhibition, briefing and seminar to collect opinions from all parties, and more than 10,000 people contributed 8,008 valid votes as well as nearly 3,000 suggestions.
Adhering to the four concepts of coordinated development, ecological priority, cultural inheritance and artistic innovation, the selected scheme takes the forest as the heart, the landscape as the base and one belt, two cores and multi settlement ring as the structure, constructing a pleasant campus with harmonious integration of orders, vision and features and a ecological system with multiple branches and the intersection of longitude and latitude.
At present, the overall planning scheme is in progress, and the all the specialized planning works have been in full swing. Xiong’an campus of BFU is expected to complete the construction of the first phase in 2025, and a promising land of 2200 mu(nearly 362 acres) will be the new home of BFUers.
