Recently, Vice President Li Xiong visited international students in their the dormitories and talked with student representatives to know about their difficulties in study and life. He conveyed the Spring Festival wishes to international students, and guided the International School to provide more care and better services for international students during the winter vacation.
Currently, there are more than 100 international students on campus, including seniors who have not returned to China for many years as well as freshmen and other students who have just arrived in China after a long wait and a tortuous journey. In order to relieve the loneliness and homesickness of the international students and enable them to experience the traditional Chinese culture through celebrating a different Spring Festival, the leaders of the university, the international school and the training colleges take various forms of caring for the international students to send them warmth and blessings.
The International College organized a grand party on the eve of the Chinese New Year and all the teachers and the international students on campus of the College got together to experience the Chinese New Year culture and send their best wishes to each other. The party has set up a variety of performances such as national costume shows, national songs and dances as well as games such as passing flowers, grabbing chairs and guessing words, and there’s also DIY time of making hand-made rabbit lights and lucky-draw time. All the participating teachers and students had a great time in the party which greatly deepened the mutual understanding between teachers and students, enhanced the students' sense of identity to the school and Chinese culture, as well as strengthened the friendship between students from different countries and the exchange of different cultures.
In addition, the School of Economics and Management, the School of Nature Conservation, the School of Landscape Architecture, the School of Environmental Science & Engineering, the School of Soil and Water Conservation, the School of Biological Science and Biotechnology, and the School of Materials Science and Technology carried out various forms of caring and condolence activities, including discussions, visiting dormitories and distributing New Year presents, so that students could feel the warmth of the school and the atmosphere of the Chinese New Year. The students expressed their deep gratitude to the school and said that in the future, they would continue to make great efforts in study and experience the magnificent mountains and rivers of China to have a more comprehensive understanding of the land, so that they could become better communicators of Chinese culture and China’s voice after returning home.
