Beijing Forestry University's School of Economics and Management recently inaugurated its ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) Research Center in collaboration with Hezhong Zeyi Management Consulting. During the launch event, the center released its inaugural 2024 Forestry Industry Sustainable Development Research Report, marking a milestone in advancing ESG practices within China's forestry sector.
The report introduces a tailored ESG evaluation framework for forestry enterprises, analyzing data from 79 listed companies on A-share and Hong Kong stock markets. It outlines industry progress in sustainability while identifying key challenges and proposing actionable policy recommendations.
The Dean of the School emphasized the center’s mission to bridge academic research and industry needs, supporting China's ecological goals through collaborative ESG studies.
At a symposium following the launch, experts discussed strategies for applying ESG principles across industries, refining research methodologies, and ensuring the center's sustainable operations. The head of the school underscored the importance of translating ESG theories into practical solutions and nurturing professionals to strengthen the university's role in shaping China's ESG landscape.
The center will prioritize research on ESG ecosystem research, corporate social responsibility research, corporate volunteer service research, and public welfare initiatives of corporate, fostering cross-sector collaboration to contribute to a robust ESG framework aligned with national development priorities.
