Mohammad Anas Khan, a doctoral student majoring in soil and water conservation in our school, an international student from Pakistan, came to Beijing Forestry University (BFU) with a great interest in agriculture, experiencing the academic atmosphere of BFU and rapid development of Chinese agriculture and forestry. Recently, he was interviewed by the short video column of China Daily "China Surprised Me", revealing his feelings.

In the interview, he said that he had been in China for four years and obtained a master's degree from China Agricultural University. He found that economies like China and Pakistan are very much affected by the agricultural development. Therefore, both the Chinese government and the Communist Party of China put agricultural development as a top priority. In Pakistan, however, agricultural development has received relatively little attention., and China is also more advanced than Pakistan in the application of modern technology and new model in agriculture development.

However, the development of agriculture has not restricted China's ecological protection. In the past three decades, China has made great achievements in soil and water conservation. A series of high-efficiency environmental protection projects have been carried out to ensure the protection of ecological environment while developing agriculture. For example, the soil erosion area of the Loess Plateau in the Yellow River Basin has decreased from 450,000 square kilometers to 234,200 square kilometers, and the decrease of 50% is an amazing achievement.
In the future, he plans to further study China's economy model in agricultural development, ecological protection as well as soil and water conservation after obtaining a doctorate degree. He hopes to apply the knowledge learned in China in the development of his country, and expects more amazing fresh technologies from China.
