Editor's note: Xi Jinping thought on ecological civilization is an important component of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. It provides fundamental principles and guidance for action in the new era. It is of great significance to spread, explain and publicize Xi Jinping thought on eco-civilization internationally. In answer to the national project, Beijing Forestry University takes the construction of ecological civilization as the driving force and development foundation. 乡村振兴 

Rural Revitalization 

中共十九大作出了实施乡村振兴战略的重大决策，在建设社会主义新农村的基础上，明确提出“产业兴旺、生态宜居、乡风文明、治理有效、生活富裕”的总要求，全面提升农村发展的内涵。 

The report to the CPC's 19th National Congress made rural revitalization a national strategy. Based on the progress in building a new socialist countryside, the report set the general requirements of building the rural areas with thriving businesses, pleasant living environments, good social etiquette and civility, effective governance, and prosperous life. This will enhance the overall quality of rural development. 

生态宜居是乡村振兴的内在要求。从生态文明建设的角度看，乡村是生态环境的主体区域，生态是乡村最大的发展优势。以生态产业化带动乡村居民增收致富，推动农业绿色发展和农村环境改善，使农业更生态、农村更宜居，是实现乡村生态文明建设的关键。实施乡村振兴战略，推行绿色发展方式和生活方式，要加强农村突出环境问题的综合治理，增加农业生态产品和服务供给，加强农村资源环境保护，强化农业面源污染防治，扩大耕地轮作休耕试点，实施山水林田湖草综合治理，保护好绿水青山和清新清净的田园风光。 

Creating pleasant living environments is an inherent requirement for rural revitalization. From the perspective of eco-civilization, the rural areas account for a large area in the ecological environment, and ecology is the biggest strength of rural areas. Industrialization of environmental protection activities will help the villagers increase income, promote green development of agriculture, and improve the rural environments, so that agriculture will be eco-friendly and the rural areas become livable. It is a key approach to building a rural eco-civilization. 

In implementing the rural revitalization strategy and promoting green development model and green ways of life, greater efforts will be needed to resolve prominent environmental problems, increase eco-products and service provision, enhance resource and environment protection, intensify the prevention and control of agricultural pollution from non-point sources, and expand trials in crop rotation and keeping land fallow. A holistic approach will be followed to conserve the mountains, rivers, forests, farmlands, lakes and grasslands, and protect lucid waters and lush mountains, so as to preserve a fresh and clean homeland for the people.
